We're doing a ride...

This is massive. Not for you, but for us. Two friends, who 1st rode together 3 years ago, up too many hills, with no preparation and only Maoams and the smallest amount of water, are now planning to ride over 220 miles, in 3 days, across Italy in April 2020. This means we have to ACTUALLY get fit, ACTUALLY eat properly, spend a horrific amount of time together, and raise a huge amount of money.

But that’s all ok; because this is us starting to realise that, despite loving food and sitting down for most of our lives, we love riding, we love getting fit and, although Suzy wouldn’t admit it, we love spending time together. More importantly, we’re riding to raise money for Mind a charity very close to our hearts.

Both of us have spent more time than we would like experiencing mental health issues, both 1st hand and with friends and loved ones. We know the pain of having to be ‘normal’ when even getting out of bed seems too hard. So we can’t think of a better cause than to help people never have to suffer alone, never have to believe that they are somehow not as good, and can find help to light the darkness.

So we are packing our Maoams and not enough water, we are putting down our crisps, and we are going to do the hardest thing we’ve ever done. You can follow our journey here (if you want to see training updates and cringey videos) and you can donate below. Please help if you can, this really matters.

So what are we doing?

Over 3 days, in April 2010, we will be riding a total of just over 220 miles across the beautiful Italian countryside, hopefully avoiding most of the hilliest areas (or our legs will die). You will be able to follow us during the ride through our live stories on instagram @milesofsmilesbikes

Day 1 we ride from Milan to Brescia; Our pretty route takes us through tranquil towns and suburbs and we stop for lunch en route to the gorgeous Lake Iseo. This is the first of several stunning lakes we’ll see on our challenge and signals that we’ve almost finished our day’s cycle. Eventually, we reach the nearby city of Brescia, where we stay for the night.

Day 2 takes to Fair Verona; This brings us to the gorgeous Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, where we stop for lunch and admire our surroundings before heading on to the famous city and, if we haven’t passed out, some breathtaking architecture. And foooood.

The final day sees us continue through the rolling hills (but not over them) that make up the countryside before arriving in Mestre, in the outskirts of mainland Venice. It is here that we can breathe a final sigh of relief before eating our bodyweight in pasta.
